Why Should My Child Play for the Modesto Rams? The Rams teach more than football and cheer. We teach achievement through teamwork, sportsmanship,self- confidence and family. It is our goal to give every child the opportunity to be part of an organization which helps them become quality young men and women. Our children learn the value of contributing toward a common goal while building friendships and skills that will last a life time. The Rams measure success not by wins and losses, but by smiles and spirit. Will My Child get to Play/Cheer in Every Game? Yes! Our league sets a minimum play requirement for all children. We do not hold tryouts and are committed to developing EVERY child. As long as a player/cheerleader attends practice during the week he/she will participate in every game. Will There Be Extensive Travel? No, our league consists of local teams. We will play 7 of our 10 games in Modesto and the other 3 games within 30 minutes from your front door. Where and When are Practices Held? We practice at Downey Park from 5:30-7:30 Monday through Friday July 27, 2009 to August 21st. When the season starts we practice Tuesday-Thursday with 1 hour on Friday and games on Saturday. Are the Coaches Qualified? All coaches are required to submit finger prints to the Department of Justice, interview with board members, have a current first aid/CPR card, attend league mandated coaching classes and provide extensive background information. Our coaches meet monthly, year-round, to go over philosophy and improve their knowledge of the game. Are the Rams Competitive? While building character and discipline is our top priority, the Rams strive to finish among the top teams in our league and have won multiple championships over the four decades the Rams have been in existence. Our organization takes great pride in helping children win, but our greatest joy is seeing kids having fun and learning. Where and How do I sign up? Open registration continues to be open until all squads are full.
Jr. Novice registration is open year-round. Divisions: Jr. Novice 6 yrs. (must turn 7 before 11/29/09) 7-8 yrs. Old and 95 lbs. Or less Novice 9-10 yrs. Old and 120 lbs. Or less (not 11 yrs. Old before 11/29/09) Jr. Varsity 10-12 yrs. Old and 140 lbs. Or less (not 13 yrs. Old before 11/29/09) Varsity 12-14 yrs. old/190 lbs. Or less/In the 8th grade (not 15 yrs. old before 11/29/09)
